Sturgis Council to extend work of Office of City Manager Subcommittee

STURGIS, S.D. – The Sturgis City Council decided Monday night to extend the Office of City Manager Subcommittee.

Sturgis City Attorney Mark Marshall says although the subcommittee has made significant progress, the subcommittee’s work is not complete.

The resolution calls for the reappointment of Mike Bachand, Mark Carstensen, Aaron Jordan and Dean Sigman to the subcommittee, which would be extended until February 14 of next year, or the date which the subcommittee is disbanded, whichever occurs first.

The subcommittee was established in January of 2022 when the council passed a resolution in support of the office of the city manager, who was targeted by petition that was circulated to change the form of city government by three residents.
