STURGIS, S.D. – The city of Sturgis closed out the paperwork related to the Seventh Street bridge project, with reimbursement from the Federal Emergency Management Agency coming.
The bridge had to be rebuilt after flooding in 2019 took it out.
Sturgis Public Works Director Rick Bush says the city turned in a cost for the project to FEMA for just over $1.5 million dollars for reimbursement.
However, Bush says after an audit was completed, some items were not eligible for reimbursement.
Bush says FEMA will instead pay $1.3 million.
The Sturgis Council this week also approved authorizing the bid for the Dudley Street Corridor Sewer Replacement.
The project will be paid for with funds from the city’s state revolving loan fund.
