Sturgis girls win team title of American Legion Relays at Pierre

PIERRE – The Sturgis girls and the Brandon Valley boys won team titles at the American Legion Relays on Monday.

The Sturgis girls scored 134.5 points, ahead of Pierre (134.1) and Brandon Valley (125). The Brandon Valley boys scored 155 points, ahead of Pierre (124.333) and Aberdeen Central (121).

Sturgis earned wins in the 800-meter relay (1:48.72). Hannah Killinger won the 300-meter hurdles (:49.21) while Paige Willnerd won the 800-meter run (2:28.21).

Pierre’s Kali Ringstmeyer won the 100-meter dash (:12.72), ran a leg on the winning 400-meter relay (:50.73) and ran a leg on Pierre’s third-place 1,600-meter relay (4:13). Reese Terwilliger won the shot put with a Class AA leading (43-10.25).

The Brandon Valley boys won the 400-meter relay (:43.80), the 800-meter relay (1:30.11). Wyatt Melcher also won the triple jump for the Lynx (43-2.5)

Custer’s Blake Boyster won the 100-meter dash (:10.93) and 200-meter dash (:22.45). Sturgis hurdler Aiden Hedderman won the 110-meter hurdles (:14.94) and the 300-meter hurdles (:40.28).

Pierre’s Jason Maciejczak captured the shot put (60-9) and the discus (172-8) with teammate Jared Lutmer winning the 1,600-meter run (4:33.42) and the 3,200-meter run (9:53.82).
