STURGIS, S.D. – The Sturgis girls captured the conference trophy as they won the team title of the Black Hills Conference Track and Field Meet Friday.
The Scooper girls finished on top with 182 points. Spearfish came in second with a 177 and Custer was third with a 133.
Spearfish won the boys title with a 172 and Sturgis placed second with a 143. Douglas was third with a 98.
In the girls events:
Haleigh Timmer of St Thomas More won the 100 and 400 meters, beating out Vaida Petterson of Spearfish in the 100 and Kyasia Jones of Sturgis in the 400. Jordyn Larsen of Custer won the 200 and Jade Ecoffey of Red Cloud captured the 800 and the 1,600. Ramsey Karim of Custer won the 3,200 meters.
In the hurdles, Anna Hoffman of Spearfish won the 110 meters and the 300 meters. Kaylee Whatley of Sturgis finished in 3rd in both events.
In the relay races, Spearfish won the 4×100 and the 4×400, Sturgis captured first in the 4×200, Custer took the 4×800 and the sprint medley.
In field events, Kelleyn Kortemeyer of Custer won the shot put and discus throw, Halle Rogers of Spearfish won the high jump, Rachel Cammack of Sturgis won the pole vault, Stella Marcus of Spearfish won the long jump and Makayla Keffeler of Sturgis won the triple jump.
In the boys’ events:
Jaden Guthmiller of Spearfish won the 100 and 200 meters, Bridger Roberdeau of Spearfish placed first in the 400, Keenan Uridales of Spearfish won the 800, Cody Farland of St Thomas More got the 1,600 and Sawyer Clarkson of Belle Fourche captured the 3,200.
In the hurdles, Jaxon Johnson of Hill City won the 110 meters and the 300 meters. Brodie Eisenbraun of Sturgis placed second in both events.
In the relay races, Custer won the 4×100 and 4,×200, while Sturgis won the 4×400 meters and the 4×800 meters. Spearfish captured the sprint medley.
In field events, Jevin Afraid of Lightning of Douglas won the shot put, Jason Maciejczak of Douglas won the discus throw, David Severson of Douglas won the high jump, Carson Diedrich of Spearfish claimed the pole vault, Aiden Giffin of Belle Fourche won the long jump and Ethan Jensen of Belle Fourche captured the triple jump.
