STURGIS, S.D. – The City of Sturgis handed out annual Sturgis Motorcyle Rally funds at their meeting Monday night.
Just over $22,000 was awarded to Sturgis Rally Charities for donations to charitable organizations later this year.
The Sturgis Liquor Store Engraving Scholarship fund awarded $14,500 for scholarships to Sturgis Brown high school students.
And the funds raised from the Sturgis Mayor’s Ride were handed out to several organizations.
The Sturgis Volunteer Fire Department received $15,000, Sturgis Ambulance received $7,500, Sturgis Police Reserves received $5,000, Love Inc. received $1,500 and the Sturgis Animal Shelter received $2,500.
The Deadwood V.F.W. also received a donation as did the Rural Meade County Ambulance District, who received $5,000 in money left over.
Over $4,000 was also raised by city employees for the United Way Employee Match program.
