STURGIS, S.D. – Windy, but mild conditions awaited athletes as they competed in the annual Black Hills Classic Track and Field competition held at Woodle Field Saturday.
Scooper Aiden Hedderman dominated the hurdles on the boys’ side, scoring wins in the both the 110 and 300 meters.
Other track winners on the boys’ side included: Custer’s Blake Boyster in the 100-meters, Rapid City Stevens’ Cael Meisman in the 200, Lead-Deadwood’s James Pierce in the 400, Hot Springs’ Matt Close in the 800, Stevens’ Grady Loos in the 1600, and Belle Fourche’s Sawyer Clarkson in the 3200.
In the relay races; Rapid City Central captured the 4×100 and 4×200, Rapid City Stevens took the 4×400, Spearfish won the 4×800Â and RC Central placed first in the sprint medley.
Boys’ field event winners include St. Thomas More’s Kolby Denke in javelin, Hill City’s Devin Buehler in high jump, Custer’s Robbie Emery in pole vault, Wall’s Rylan McDonnell in long jump and Douglas’ Terrell Archer in triple jump.
On the girls’ side:
Custer’s Jordyn Larsen won the 100 and 200 meters, Spearfish’s Josie Tobin took the 400, Custer’s Ramsey Karim got the 800, Stevens’ Brionna Holso captured the 1600, Stevens’ Claire Fierro in the 110 hurdles and Spearfish’s Anna Hoffman in the 300 hurdles.
In the relay races, Sturgis won the 4×200 and the 4×400 with RC Central capturing the 4×100. Spearfish won the sprint medley.
Winners in field events include Rapid City Christian’s Kayla Dilka in shot put, Custer’s Alice Sedlacek in discus, Stevens’ Brynn Nelson in javelin, Spearfish’s Avery Kirk in high jump, Custer’s Ciana Stiefel in pole vault and Stevens’ Avery Kraus in triple jump.
