Sturgis opens competitive cheer season in Aberdeen

ABERDEEN, S.D. –  The Sturgis Scooper Competitive Cheer team opened the season at Aberdeen Saturday.

The Scoopers finished in 13th, but coach Brooke Wubben was proud of the girls and says their 164 points was the highest they’ve ever started the season with.

That holds promise for a good season.

Sioux Falls Jefferson won the team title with 259 points. Harrisburg was second with a 241.50 and Sioux Falls Roosevelt was third with 240. Rapid City Stevens and Brookings rounded out the top five.
