Sturgis places fourth at state team dual championships

RAPID CITY, S.D.  -The 2022-2023 South Dakota Wrestling season came to a close Saturday with the State A and B Team Dual Championships.

Canton took home the ‘B’ title in a win against Bon Homme/Avon, while Pierre won the ‘A’ title in a tiebreaker victory over Brandon Valley.

Sturgis brought home fourth place. The Scoopers opened the day with a 31-27 victory over Harrisburg. The Scoopers then got Pierre, and lost to the Governors 54-18. In the third place dual, the Scoopers dropped a hard fought dual to Watertown 42-23.

At the Class B Team Dual Championships, Custer brought home a third place finish. The Wildcats opened with a dominating 48-15 win over Parker. In the semifinal, top seeded Canton got the 50-22 win over the Wildcats. In the third place dual, Custer rebounded to take third by beating McCook Central/Montrose 57-24.
