Sturgis Police Chief Geody Vandewater leads motorcyclists on Second Annual Chief’s Ride

STURGIS, S.D. – The 83^rd Sturgis Motorcycle Rally doesn’t officially start until Friday, but the first sponsored ride of the year was held today as Sturgis Police Chief Geody Vandewater hosted the 2^nd Annual Chief’s Ride.

In its second year, Vandewater hopes to build on the success of last year’s ride.

Vandewater discusses the Police Athletic League or PAL for short.

Proceeds from the ride benefit PAL and the Sturgis Animal Shelter.

This year’s ride departed from the Sturgis Community Center and will stop at various designated spots around the Black Hills.
