STURGIS, S.D. – Sturgis Police released their first tally for the 84th Sturgis Motorcycle Rally Saturday.
Police report 13 misdemeanor drug arrests already; well ahead of last year’s 8 on the same date.
Felony drug arrests are lower, however, totaling 5 so far this year compared to 8 last year.
There have been 8 D.U.I. arrests so far, down one from day two last year.
As usual, parking is an issue as the rally begins, although numbers so far are down over last year. Police have reported 7 parking citations – down from last year’s 16.
So far, there have been 21 non-traffic arrests and 32 traffic arrests. Non-traffic arrests are right in line with last year while traffic arrests are down.
