Sturgis Soccer Association working with Public Works to build new shelter/storage building at soccer fields

STURGIS, S.D. – The Sturgis Soccer Association is working to build a storage/shelter building at the soccer fields that would be used to store and house equipment and serve as a location for players during inclement weather. This building will serve as a learning center and tournament center as well.

The city of Sturgis approved a lease for the land during their meeting Monday night.

The association has been working with the city’s public works department on where to place the structure, which would be approximately 30-feet by 14-feet.

Public Works Director Rick Bush says the Association will need to follow FEMA guidelines because the soccer fields are in the flood plain.

Bush says the Soccer Association will cover the cost to build the structure, as well as take care of maintenance and the insurance.
