STURGIS, S.D. – Sturgis will soon be looking for a new boys basketball coach.
Current Coach Derris Buus told KBHB Sports Thursday that he has accepted a job as Principal and Activities Director at the Lyman School District.
Buus has served as head coach of the Sturgis Brown High School boys basketball team since 2018. He has also served as an assistant football coach with the Scoopers and is a third grade teacher at Sturgis Elementary.
Buus says his son Tyan will remain in Sturgis and finish his prep athletic career here. His wife Gail will also stay in Sturgis for the time being.
