Sturgis teachers participate in social distancing parade

STURGIS, S.D. – Teachers in Sturgis got the chance to see their students Wednesday — from a safe distance — courtesy of a special parade.

Teachers from Sturgis area schools were in cars and trucks that were decked out in streamers and balloons.

One by one, the parade of teachers made their way through different neighborhoods waving to students and members of the community.

The purpose of the parade was to allow teachers the ability to interact with their students from a distance.

Many of the decorated vehicles displayed messages of hope and love with some telling students they miss them.

First Responders also took part in the parade with lights and sirens. f
