STURGIS, S.D. – After spotting Rapid City Post 320 three runs in the top of the first inning, Sturgis Post 33 answered with six runs in the bottom of the inning and kept rolling to a 13-3 win Wednesday night.
The Stars got off to a hot start as Wyatt Hunt’s 2 R.B.I. double gave Post 320 an early lead.
But the Titans struck back at their first turn at bat with 6 runs. David Anderson’s triple got the scoring started as Zach Hess scored. Then a single by Ridge Inhofer brought Anderson home and Colton Cruickshank’s double brought Inhofer home.
The Titans then added a run in the third before exploding for another 5 in the fourth, highlighted by a two run homerun by John Fischer.
After keeping Post 320 scoreless in the top of the fifth, Sturgis added a run in the bottom of the inning to give them a 10-run lead, ending the game under the 10-run rule.
David Anderson pitched a complete game, allowing 5 hits with 4 walks and 4 strikeouts.
Anderson finished 3 for 4 offensively with 2 singles, a double and an R.B.I.
Fischer went 2 for 4, with a homerun; Zach Hess went 2 for 4 with 2 doubles and R.B.I.’s; Colton Cruickshank was 2 for 4 with 2 R.B.I.’s and R.J. Andrzejeweski was 2 for 3 with 2 R.B.I.’s.
Sturgis is 2-0 on the season and will host Douglas in a doublheader Saturday.
Post 320 opens the season 0-1.
