Sturgis to send two wrestlers to championship matches after semi finals at State A Wrestling

RAPID CITY, S.D. – The Sturgis Scoopers will have two wrestlers in the championship matches of the State A Wrestling Tournament Saturday night.

Wren Jacobs will battle for the 160 pound championship and Reese Jacobs will wrestle for the 170 pound championship. Wren won his semifinal by beating Tyler Voorhees of Rapid City Stevens in a 10-0 decision.

Reese won his semifinal with a win by fall over Luca Slack of Brandon Valley.

Kelton Olson had hoped to punch his ticket to the 132 pound championship, but will wrestle for third after a semifinal loss to Alex Mentzer of Brandon Valley.

Other area wrestlers headed for the championship round include:

Jack Schoenhard of Stevens, who won his semifinal over Josh Hoffman of Spearfish at 113 pounds. He will wrestle Quincy Hulverson of Tea Area.

Logan Graf of Stevens will wrestle for the 120 pound championship after winning his semifinal over Connor Hanson of Watertown.

Cael Larson of RC Central will wrestle for the 138 pound championship after a win over Pierre’s Hayden Shaffer.

Riley Benson of Stevens goes for the 152 pound championship after defeating T.J. Morrison of Rapid City Central in a 6-4 decision.
