STURGIS, S.D. – AMA Pro Racing and AFT Events, in collaboration with the City of Sturgis, will conduct a test of the street course for the upcoming Sturgis TT on Tuesday, June 11, from 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM MDT, with a contingency plan for Wednesday, June 12. This test is an essential step in ensuring the safety and quality of the upcoming inaugural racing event planned for Sunday, August 11 during the 84th Annual City of Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.
The test will take place on the streets of downtown Sturgis. During the test, sections of the streets will be temporarily closed to traffic. Affected areas will include downtown sections of Main Street, Third Street, Sherman Street and Harley-Davidson Way. Residents and visitors are advised to plan their travel accordingly and use alternative routes where possible.
Race officials will be on site and available throughout the week to meet with members of the community and answer any questions they may have. The community’s support is greatly appreciated by AMA Pro Racing, AFT Events and the City of Sturgis.
The inaugural Sturgis TT will take place on Sunday, August 11 as Round 13 of the Progressive American Flat Track series, a nationally-televised professional motorcycle racing championship sanctioned by AMA Pro Racing. The event will be promoted by AFT Events and marketed by Øuterkind.
Scheduled on the final weekend of the annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally as a free-to-attend event, the Sturgis TT will be attended by thousands of fans and will drive more than a million dollars in economic impact directly into the Sturgis community. Livestreaming coverage will begin on Sunday, August 11 at 12:00pm local time on FloSports. Television coverage of the event will air on FOX Broadcast Network on Saturday, August 17 at 2:00 PM EDT.
