DEADWOOD, S.D. – The Sturgis Scooper girls and boys cross country teams won the Mile High Preview Cross Country Meet on Tuesday.
In the boys race, Scooper Ty Petrocco claimed the title. finishing in a time of 13:25.19. Fellow Scooper Quinn Bruck finished second in a time of 13:43.41. Wyatt Balliew of Douglas was third followed by two more Scoopers in fourth and fifth. They were Ty Ferguson and Cash Daigle.
Sturgis won the team title followed by Douglas in second and Little Wound in third.
In the girls race, Kira Ubence of Douglas won in a time of 17:06.81. Lucy Hamer of Sturgis was second with a time of 17:13. Scooper Paige Willnerd finished third and Sheridan Madden of Rapid City Central was fourth. Lead-Deadwood’s Hallie Person rounded out the top five.
Three Sturgis Scoopers, Iris Zysltra, Keelin Dinkins and Emilie Reedy, finished top ten.
Sturgis won the team title, followed by Lemmon and Douglas.
