DEADWOOD — A Sturgis woman is the second of six individuals to recently be arraigned on grand theft and conspiracy charges, allegedly taking advantage of a deficiency in the Global Payment machine at the Gold Dust Casino in Deadwood in November 2021.
Crystal May Hufford, 29, pleaded not guilty to the charges against her last week.
Prosecutors say the group of people allegedly learned of a deficiency in the Global Payment kiosk machine in the casino in that they could withdraw money from it without any deductions occurring on their credit cards or debit cards.
Hufford has been charged with grand theft and conspiracy to commit grand theft. She could face up to 15 years in prison. Hufford could also face habitual offender status, due to previous drug convictions.
Hufford is joined by five other co-defendants in the case: Daniel Wade Emme, 34 of Lead, Christopher Edward Auwerter, 32, of Rapid City, Courtland Alister Blaylock, 23, Shea Ryan Fleming, 31, of Lead, and Brandon James McCay, 30, of Spearfish.
