STURGIS — Sturgis Brown High School’s Mike Abell was recently honored by the South Dakota Wrestling Coaches Association as the 2020-2021 Region 4A Coach of the Year.
Abell, the Scoopers head wrestling coach says he was excited to win the award, but noted he couldn’t have done it without the talented number of wrestlers he’s coached this year.
He says “the kids wrestled their hearts out this year, and we made the best of what we had at the end of the year.”
The Scooper had seven state place winners this year, including two state champions in Wren and Reese Jacobs.
