BOX ELDER, S.D. – A suspect calling law enforcement stating he wanted to commit suicide and specifically “suicide by cop” brought the BEPD (Box Elder Police Department) on scene within five minutes from the initial call to a location at Antelope Ridge, a subdivision north of Rapid City, S.D.
The suspect, James Edward Brown, is a Mountain States security guard on contract to Antelope Ridge, and was in a company vehicle at the time of the incident. However, it is unclear if he was “on duty” status.
