SUMMERSET, S.D. – Summerset Police say several people have been arrested in connection with a burglary and theft spree.
On Thursday,, September 12, 2024, the Summerset Police Department responded to multiple vehicle burglaries and thefts in the Sun Valley Estates neighborhood. Officers worked diligently throughout the day and executed a search warrant at a residence in Summerset. As a result, numerous stolen items, including a stolen firearm, were recovered.
Several individuals were taken into custody and charged with several felonies.
Those arrested and charges faced include:
Schuyler Backer (37), Summerset, Possession of a controlled substance, Possession of drug paraphernalia, Contributing to the delinquency of a minor, Causing a child to be present where methamphetamines are used and a Probation hold.
Heather Perry (41), Summerset, Possession of a controlled substance, Possession of drug paraphernalia, Contributing to the delinquency of a minor, Causing a child to be present where methamphetamines are used, and ingesting an illegal substance.
Juvenile, Rapid City, Grand theft, Aggravated criminal entry of a motor vehicle, False impersonation, and Possession of drug paraphernalia
Juvenile, Summerset, Receiving stolen property, Grand theft, and Possession of a pistol by a minor
The Meade County Sheriff’s Office assisted with the investigation. Currently, the charges are only accusations, and the individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty. The investigation is ongoing, and further updates will be provided as needed.
