Sunday COVID-19 Report – 42 new deaths, 1,129 new cases

PIERRE, S.D. – State health officials have reported 42 new COVID-19 related deaths in their Sunday report, sending the state’s death toll to 819. The new deaths were 20 men and 22 women.

There were 1,129 new cases reported Sunday.

Active cases increased today by 30 to 16,987.

Hospitalizations were down three today to 577.

New cases across West River totaled 213.  Pennington County had the most with 85 new cases. Pennington County’s total is 7,764 with 1,803 active cases.

In Meade County, 17 new cases were reported for a total of 1,570 and 319 remain active.

Lawrence County reported 12 new cases, sending their total to 1,02 with 366 active.

Elsewhere across West River, new case numbers included 18 in Todd, 12 in Oglala Lakota, 11 in Dewey, 10 in Perkins, 8 in Custer, 6 in Mellette, 5 each in Gregory and Tripp, 4 each in Butte and Bennett, 2 each in Fall River, Stanley, Haakon and Jackson and one in Lyman.
