Sunday COVID-19 report – uptick in new cases; two new deaths reported

PIERRE, S.D. – The COVID-19 death toll hit 1,900 Sunday as two new deaths were reported. The new deaths were one man and one woman in the 40-49 and 60-69 age range.

New cases of the virus continued an upward trend as 211 were reported with 55 of them probable.

Active cases are up 49 today to 2,158. The number of people hospitalized due to the virus dropped by two to 72.

Across the Black Hills area, there were 14 new cases in Pennington County. Of those 14, 4 were listed as probable. The cumulative total in Pennington is nearing 13,000 as 12,994 cases have been reported.

In Meade County, four new, confirmed cases were reported sending the total to 2,618.

In Lawrence County, just one new cases was reported for a cumulative total there to 2,834.

Other new cases across the area included 2 each in Butte and Custer, 5 in Fall River and one in Oglala Lakota County.
