PIERRE, S.D. – The Department of Health reported 71 new cases of COVID-19 in their Sunday report.
The new numbers give the state a cumulative total of 5,438 with 1,038 active cases. The number of active cases is up 9 from Saturday’s 1,029.
In the Black Hills area, Pennington County recorded 8 new cases, sending their cumulative total to 305 with 182 active cases.
Meade and Lawrence did not report any new cases in the Sunday report. Meade County still has 13 active cases and Lawrence County has 2 active cases.
Other new cases across Western South Dakota include two in Lyman County, four in Oglala Lakota County and one in Todd County.
The current number of people hospitalized from COVID-19 is 87 Sunday’ down from 93 on Saturday.
The state’s death toll remained at 65.
