PIERRE, S.D. – Sunday’s COVID-19 report from the state department of health indicates 12 new deaths and 703 new cases. Of the new cases, 222 are listed as probable.
The death toll is now at 1,513. The twelve new deaths were 5 men and 7 women and in the age ranges of 60-69, 70-79 and 80-plus.
Active cases rose by 255 today to 5,988. The number of people hospitalized because of the virus dropped another 20 to 262 today.
Across the Black Hills area, Pennington County added 150 new cases with 18 of them listed as probable. The cumulative total in Pennington rose to 11,432.
In Meade County, 26 new cases were reported with 4 of them labeled as probable. Meade County’s cumulative total is 2,288.
Lawrence County added 22 new cases with 5 of them probable. The total in Lawrence County rises to 2,594 Sunday.
Other new cases across the Black Hills area included 8 in Oglala Lakota with 3 of them listed as probable, 6 new cases in Butte and 3 new cases each in Custer and Fall River counties.
New cases across all of West River counties Sunday totaled 237.
There were 2,009 new persons tested reported on Saturday. Saturday’s new person tested positivity rate is 34.9%.
