RAPID CITY, S.D. – The suspect in a fatal shooting that took place last week made his initial court appearance Tuesday.
Luke Birch, 21, was arrested Saturday and charged with First Degree Murder in connection with shooting death of 24-year-old McFarland Walker.
A judge set bail at $2 million dollars although prosecutors asked for no bond, saying Birch was a danger to the community and due to the severity of the crime.
Birch is facing a maximum penalty of death or life in prison for the charge. His case will move forward to arraignment next month.
