Tammy Renee Vig

Tammy Renee Vig passed away suddenly March 2,2024, from cardiac arrest due to a blood infection.
Tammy Renee Reinhardt was born December 10, 1968, in Lincolnton, NC. Tammy was gifted siblings Jennifer (1973), Kristy (1978), and Eric (1984). Tammy told many stories about a Volkswagen, “the red tomato”, car. Tammy dearly loved her “Papaw and Mamaw” James Alvin and Bessie Byrd and aunt Pam. Alvin, Bessie, and Pam were hugely instrumental in Tammy’s upbringing and her relationship with God.  Tammy accepted Christ at an early age and lived her life accordingly, building a very strong and long-lasting faith in God.  Tammy worked at a local fish camp, “Lincoln Seafood”, during high school.  Tammy graduated as valedictorian in 1987 in Lincolnton, North Carolina. While she didn’t intend to go to college, a high school teacher strongly encouraged and assisted her to attend Lee College in Tennessee.  While attending Lee, she met Darrell Vig, from South Dakota. They dated, quickly became a couple, and got engaged February 7, 1988. After extensive planning, they got married June 17, 1989, in Prairie Bible Church of God at Union Center, SD, the day after a tornado. Darrell’s uncle Dwayne attended after landing his Citabria airplane on the highway.  Darrell and Tammy lived in Faith, SD, for a short time before living temporarily in a renovated school bus, lambing sheep for Donald and Roger Weiss then later Ronald Miller. Tammy spoke often of the fond memories of that old bus. In the summer of 1990, Darrell and Tammy moved to North Carolina. Tiffany Renee Vig was born September 18, 1990, in Lincolnton, North Carolina. The new family lived in North Carolina until mid-1991. Darrell, Tammy, and Tiffany returned to South Dakota where Darrell worked on several ranches in the Meade County area. In summer 1994, the family moved to Newell, SD, where Darrell began working in Belle Fourche, SD, driving a truck. Dillon was born November 20, 1995, in Rapid City, SD. In the Summer 1996, while Tammy was nurturing the children, Darrell bought a truck and began an over the road trucking career.  In September 1996, Darrell and Tammy moved their family to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, a place Tammy always enjoyed as a child and a young adult, while Darrell continued trucking. Tammy started working for “Discount Show Tickets” after both children started attending school. She thoroughly enjoyed her work there and made many friends.  In April 2005, Darrell ended his trucking career to care for his dad after his dad had major surgery. In October 2005, Darrell returned to Tennessee and worked for a construction company.  After searching for a while, Darrell and Tammy found a wonderful church family to be a part of Foothills Worship Center was an integral part of their spiritual growth. September 2008, brought more changes. Tammy and the kids remained in Tennessee while Darrell moved to North Dakota, working in the oilfield. Tiffany graduated high school in May 2009 and remained in Tennessee. Tammy, Dillon, and Darrell loaded up and moved to North Dakota. Tiffany rejoined the family in Summer 2010. Tiffany married Steve Villeme March 11, 2014, in Dickinson, ND. Summer 2013, Tammy began working for KMM, building wiring harnesses for Boeing Aircraft. Dillon graduated high school in Dickinson, ND, in May 2014 and began a welding career. Due to his dad’s health, Darrell moved, in a small camper, back to the ranch in South Dakota in March 2015.  After establishing a home, Darrell helped Tammy move to the ranch. March 6, 2018, Selena Renee Villeme was born to Steve and Tiffany Villeme in Dickinson, ND, making Tammy a very proud and happy “Mimi”. Selena and Mimi had such great fun together along with acquiring toys. Tammy became an election worker for Pine 33 Precinct and really enjoyed her colleagues. In August 2020, Tammy began working as a paraprofessional at the Maurine School in the Faith School District (Meade 46-2). Tammy cleaned the school her first year there. Tammy really LOVED her job, her coworkers, and utterly adored her students. Tammy impacted so many people with her kindness and compassion. While she enjoyed her school and assisting with the school programs at Prairie Home Church, Tammy absolutely adored and looked forward to any opportunities she could spend with Selena, her granddaughter. Selena and “Mimi” were always having adventures and making memories.
Tammy is survived by her husband of 34+ years, Darrell, their daughter, Tiffany (Steve), their son, Dillon, their granddaughter, Selena, her mother Vicki (Sammy), her mother-in-law, Adelia, her siblings, Jennifer, Kristy, and Eric, her grandmother, Bessie, her aunt Pam, and many nieces and nephews.
