Teen charged with murder in shooting death found guilty

RAPID CITY, S.D. – A Pennington County jury found Ronald Black Cloud, 17, guilty of second-degree murder.

The verdict was handed down Wednesday afternoon after several days of testimony was heard.

Black Cloud was on trial for the fatal shooting of Nathan Graham in 2018. He was only 14 at the time of the shooting.

The victim’s widow, Shayla Colbert-Graham, testified two of her son’s friend showed up at the house the night of Aug. 17, 2018. Graham got in a shoving match with one of them, Ross Johnson, after telling them to leave. Johnson was armed and gave his gun to Black Cloud with instructions to shoot Graham. Johnson was earlier sentenced to 20 years in prison on felony charges in connection with the shooting.

No sentencing date has been yet to set for Black Cloud.
