Teen killed in Off Road Vehicle crash in Stanley County

PIERRE, S.D. – A teenager from rural Fort Pierre has died as the result of a one vehicle accident a little after 9:30pm CT Saturday Night in an Off Road Vehicle area in Stanley County.

A Stanley County Deputy Sheriff says the 14-year-old was in a Jeep when the incident happened. He was transported by AMR ambulance service to Avera St. Mary’s Hospital in Pierre, where he succumbed to his injuries.

The Off Road Vehicle area is just south of the Oahe Dam, off of Highway 1806.

The accident is still under investigation.

Other agencies responding were South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks, Fort Pierre Volunteer Fire Department, Pierre Rescue Squad and the South Dakota Highway Patrol.
