Thirty-eight new cases, two new deaths in Tuesday COVID-19 report

PIERRE, S.D. – There were 38 new cases of COVID-19 and two new deaths in the Tuesday report from the South Dakota Department of Health.

One new death was reported in Minnehaha County and one was reported in Pennington County. The state’s death count is now 77 with Pennington County accounting for 9 of those.

Pennington County recorded 10 new cases today sending their cumulative total to 402 with 159 active. Meade County reported two new cases, sending their cumulative total to 39 with 17 active.

On Monday, Rapid Transit reopened service after a two week suspension, following three drivers testing positive for COVID-19.

During the down time, RTS went through an extensive cleaning process on all buses, as well as the bus barn and transportation center.

Other cases west river included two in Oglala Lakota County, one in Jackson County, one in Todd County and one in Tripp County.

The number of active cases statewide decreased to 820 from Monday’s 892.

The number of people currently hospitalized is 92 today, down one from Monday.
