BOX ELDER, S.D. – A threat on social media put all Douglas School buildings on secure status Tuesday morning.
According to the Douglas School District’s Facebook page, all district buildings were placed on “secure status” due to an alleged threat at the high school.
“A student had reported that they got a threat from an outside source, and then they got another threat that the person was coming or already on school property,” said Douglas School District Superintendent, Alan Kerr.
Tuesday’s threat was sent to a female student through Snapchat, a social media app.
Police requested that families stay away from the schools as authorities investigated.
Secure Status is when people cannot enter or leave buildings and movement inside is kept to a minimum.
The secure status was lifted at 11:37 a.m.
