STURGIS, S.D. – With extreme fire conditions descending upon the region, fire crews have been busy knocking down small fires before they become big ones.
On Wednesday, several small fires were reported around the Black Hills.
The Five Fire was located in Boulder Canyon, off Highway 14A between Sturgis and Deadwood. The fire was reported at 10:42 a.m. and burned a tenth of an acre. Federal, State and Local resources responded to put the fire out.
The 385 Fire was reported just after 11:00 a.m. Wednesday south of Custer and also charred a tenth of an acre. Federal, state and local resources responded to put that fire out. Its cause was listed as an R.V./Camper that caught fire on the highway and started the neighboring grass on fire.
And, the Argyle Fire burned a tenth of an acre northwest of Hot Springs in Custer County. That fire, reported Wednesday afternoon, was also listed as human caused and was contained by Wednesday evening.
