Three new deaths, 25 new cases in Thursday’s COVID-19 report from the South Dakota Department of Health

PIERRE, S.D. – State Health Officials reported 25 new cases of COVID-19 in their Thursday report with 2 of those listed as probable cases.

Active cases inched back up over 150 at 156 while the number of people hospitalized increased by three to 22.

There were an additional 3 new COVID-19 related deaths reported sending the state’s death toll to 2,038. Of the three new deaths, one was in a male in the 30-39 year-age-range. The other two were in males between the age of 70-79.

Across the Black Hills area, there were 9 new cases.

Pennington County reported 4 new cases, Lawrence County added 3 and Butte and Fall River County each had one new case.

As for the vaccination rate; as of Thursday, 56.8% of the population 12-years-old and above has received at least one dose while 52.65% have completed the vaccination series.
