Three new deaths, one in Pennington County, reported in Tuesday COVID-19 Update

PIERRE, S.D. – The Department of Health reported three new deaths in its COVID-19 Tuesday report, including one in Pennington County.

The new death raises the death toll in the county to six.

The other two deaths were in Lake and Minnehaha County. The deaths include one man and two women. The new deaths were reported in the 50-59 year age group and two in the 80+ age group.

As for new cases, the health department reported 52 new cases with 7 in Pennington County. The county’s cumulative total is now 321 with 170 active  cases. Todd County reported 4 new cases today and Oglala Lakota added another positive case for a cumulative total of 40 with 21 active cases.

The active caseload statewide is down 31 today to below 1,000 at 972.

The number of people hospitalized in the state due to COVID-19 is 90, down two from yesterday.

An additional 80 people have recovered from the coronavirus, bringing the statewide total number of recovered to 4,483.
