STURGIS, S.D. – A vehicle that failed to pull over for a routine traffic stop in Sturgis led law enforcement on a high speed chase Tuesday.
Sturgis Police attempted to pull over the vehicle for equipment violations, but the car instead led the officer on a chase that ended up on State Highway 34 and then onto New Underwood Road.
The vehicle led authorities on a pursuit that, at times, reached speeds of over 100 mph.
After two failed attempts to deploy spike strips, Officers were successful on the third attempt but the vehicle still continued to elude officers with one deflated tire. After some time the tire came off the vehicle and they came to a stop and three occupants were taken into custody.
The male Driver is being charged with felony drug possession, Felony aggravated eluding, numerous traffic and equipment violations and is a Parole absconder.
The male passenger is being charged with felony drug possession and is a Parole absconder.
The female passenger is being held for warrants out of Pennington County.
