STURGIS, S.D. – Sturgis citizens got their first look at proposed renderings for a Lakeside Adventure Park to be built along Vanocker Canyon Road at Monday night’s Council Meeting.
The presentation was given by Kyle Treloar and Megan Kingsubry of Vanocker Development.
The duo presented three concepts that Sturgis citizens and the council will vote on.
The 77-acre parcel on which the Adventure Park is planned is large enough for a 4-acre water feature and other amenities such as a small splash park, picnic area, concession stand, restrooms, paddle boarding, miniature golf and open space for future growth. The budget for the facility has been set at $5.9 million with funding coming from a TIF District.
Sturgis Council President Beka Zerbst says the park is finally coming to fruition.
She says Vanocker Development has done a wonderful job of focusing on the recreational possibilities.
Zerbst says they are planning to discuss the three concepts at their first meeting in June and possible make a decision. The public can submit comments as well. The three concepts can be found on the City of Sturgis website.
