RAPID CITY, S.D. – Three teens are accused of breaking into a Rapid City home and starting a fire October 24.
Caleb Jumping Eagle and Julian Wright pleaded not guilty in Pennington County court Monday to charges of second degree arson and third degree burglary.
Colin Whiting is reportedly awaiting a mental competency evaluation and was not present to plead with his codefendants.
The arson charge carries a maximum penalty of ten years in prison and the burglary charge carries a five-year maximum sentence, if they are convicted.
Judge Joshua Hendrickson agreed to lower Jumping Eagle’s and Wright’s bonds from $50,000 to $20,000 to match a reduction in charges. Whiting’s bond was not addressed yet.
The three men are scheduled to make their next court appearance December 30.
