Thursday COVID-19 Report – active cases back up over 2,000; three new deaths

PIERRE, S.D. – Active cases of COVID-19 are back up over 2,000 Thursday and three new deaths have been reported as well.

In their Thursday update, health officials reported 232 new cases of COVID-19, with 94 of them listed as probable.

Active cases rose by 63 today to 2,056. The number of people hospitalized due to the virus dropped by 10 to 87.

The three new deaths reported raise the state’s death toll to 1,896.

Across the Black Hills area, there were 21 new, confirmed cases and 22 listed as probable.

In Pennington County, there were a total of 24 new cases with 13 probable.

Meade County had 5 new cases with one listed as probable.

Seven new cases were reported in Fall River County, four of them considered probable.

Four new cases were listed in Custer County – all of them probable.

Two new, confirmed cases were reported in Oglala Lakota County and one new  cases was in Butte County.
