RAPID CITY, S.D. – What was expected to be a very close dual didn’t disappoint Thursday as the Rapid City Stevens Raiders edged the Sturgis Scoopers 36-27 in wrestling action at Carrold Heier Gymnasium.
The Raiders opened the dual with a win at 106 pounds courtesy of JAck Schoenhard over Evan Osborne.
Sturgis would fight right back, getting a win at 113 as Kaden Olson won a 13-0 major decision over Caleb Richter.
At 120, Kelton Olson added to the Scoopers point total with a pin of Jackson Kitterman.
Then, the Raiders came back as Declan Malone defeated Petty Ketelsen at 138 and Coper Voorhees at 160 defeated Sturgis’ Wren Jacobs.
The Raiders would get the dual win courtesy of a win by Eli Huot over Cody Neslon at 285.
Other Sturgis winners included Logan DeSersa at 126, Brett Konst at 152, Taylor Coffield at 182 and Clayton Smith at 195.
In other wrestling action Thursday, Rapid City Central cruised to a 60-24 over Spearfish.
And, Lead-Deadwood dropped a couple of matches to Belle Fourche and Custer.
The Broncs got the 43-42 win and Custer outdualed the Golddiggers 42-21.
