Thursday’s COVID-19 Report – New cases drop, nine new deaths reported

PIERRE, S.D. – New COVID-19 cases were down today, but it was deadly report from the Department of Health as 9 new deaths were reported.

Across West River, new deaths were reported in Lawrence, Pennington and Butte Counties. The new deaths raise the state’s death toll since the pandemic began to 2,142.

New COVID-19 cases today totaled 474 with 125 of those listed as probable.

Active cases declined to 7,388 but hospitalizations rose by 9 to 214.

Pennington County reported 79 total new cases Thursday with 17 of those listed as probable.

Meade County had 30 confirmed new cases and one probable while Lawrence County reported 19 confirmed cases and two that were considered as probable.

Butte County listed 10 confirmed cases and 5 probable.

Elsewhere, Fall River had 11 new cases, Oglala Lakota reported 5 and Custer County had 3 new cases.
