Thursday’s COVID-19 Report – new cases total 536, two new deaths

PIERRE, S.D. – South Dakota Health officials reported 536 new cases of COVID-19 Thursday, with 104 of those listed under the probable category.

Active cases increased by 318 to 5,688 but the number of hospitalizations went down from 229 Wednesday to 218 Thursday.

Two new deaths were reported, sending the state’s death toll to 2,071.

Across the Black Hills region, there were 282 total new cases, of which, 61 were considered as probable.

Pennington County reported 103 confirmed cases and 49 probable cases.

Meade County added 39 confirmed and 4 probable cases and Lawrence County reported 37 confirmed new cases.

In Butte County, there were 9 confirmed new cases.

Elsewhere around the region, Custer reported 4 confirmed, 2 probable; Fall River added 1 confirmed and 6 probable; Oglala Lakota listed 5 confirmed and Harding County saw 3 confirmed new cases.

Monument Health Thursday reports 98 people hospitalized with COVID-19, with 23 in the I.C.U. and 19 on ventilators.
