Thursday’s COVID-19 Update – 84 new cases, one new death, hospitalizations are down

PIERRE, S.D. – The Thursday COVID-19 report from the Department of Health showed 84 new cases with 21 of those listed as probable.

Active cases decreased by 76 today to 1,309.

The number of people hospitalized totaled 90 – down 12 from Wednesday.

One new death was reported. The new death was a man in the 40-49 year-old age range from Minnehaha County. The new death also sends the state’s total since the pandemic began to 1,977. There have been 10 deaths reported this week.

Across the Black Hills area, Pennington County recorded 16 new cases, Butte County had 2, and Lawrence, Meade and Custer County each recorded one new case.
