TILFORD, S.D. – The South Dakota Department of Public Safety held an open house at the new Tilford Port of Entry off I-90 Wednesday.
The open house featured a Trucker Appreciation Day event where Highway Patrol Motor Carrier Services provided goodie bags to the passing tuckers along with a free meal and other refreshments.
Visitors also had a chance to get a first -hand look at the newly revamped point of entry.
The Highway Patrol says the building is brand new with a new inspection bay.
Other features on display included a new motion weigh-in system which reduces wait times and an infrared braking system to detect overheating brakes.
