WINNER, S.D. – In a pair of games played at Winner, the Sturgis Titans dropped a doubleheader with Sioux Falls West Tuesday.
In the first game, both teams scored in the double figures as West won 20-15.
The two teams exhcanged leads several times during game as West kept the Titans scoreless in the bottom of the seventh inning. It was the only scorless inning of the game for Sturgis who scored 2 in the first, 6 in the second, 3 in the third, 2 in the fourth, one in the fifth and one in the sixth.
Both teams had 16 hits on the day.
Gage Murphey pitched four innings for the Titans, and scored 4 strikeouts.
In game two, the Titans dropped a 10-9 heartbreaker to West.
Sturgis took a 9-5 lead into the seventh inning, only to see Sioux Falls score 5 in the bottom of the seventh to pick up the victory.
The Titans had 15 hits in the game with 2 errors.
Dylan Gillepsie helped lead Sturgis with 3 hits and David Anderson added 3 R.B.I.’s.
The Titans are 12-4 on the season and will host the Sturgis Baseball Rally beginning on Thursday.
