Titans Drop Two On Saturday in Yankton

YANKTON, SD – The Sturgis Post 33 Titans wrapped up play on Saturday at the Lewis & Clark American Legion baseball tourney with losses to Sioux Falls Post 15 and Brandon Valley. The Titans competed in the Vermillion Pool at the tournament.

The Titans fell to Sioux Falls Post 15 6-5 on Saturday on the final play of the game. Post 15 trailed 5-4 in the bottom of the seventh inning when Dirk Fornwald singled on a 3-2 count with two outs, scoring two runs.

Brody Bohnet earned the victory on the mound for Sioux Falls Post 15, and Owen Cass took the loss for Sturgis Post 33.

Sturgis Post 33 racked up 12 hits in the game, led by Ridge Inhofer, Cass, David Anderson, and Beau Peters, all with multiple hits for the Titans.

Sioux Falls Post 15 had 13 hits in the game, led by Fornwald, who went 3-for-5 at the plate to lead Post 15.

Post 33 fell behind early in their second game of the day versus Brandon Valley Post 131 and couldn’t mount a come back in an 11-3 loss.

Aiden Zerr got the win for Brandon Valley with Kain Peters taking the loss for the Titans. Peters lasted two innings, allowing two hits and two runs while striking out five and walking one.

Hunter Janzen went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Sturgis Post 33. The Titans had six total hits in the ballgame.

Post 33 finished the tournament with one win and three losses and travel to Pete Lien Field on Tuesday for a doubleheader against Rapid City Post 320.
