Titans Hold Off Post 320 Stars at Pete Lien Field

RAPID CITY, SD — Sturgis Post 33 Titans built a five-run lead in the second inning and then held off Rapid City Post 320 Stars’s charge for an 8-7 victory on Thursday.

Rapid City Post 320 Stars scored six runs in the failed comeback on a double by Garrett Grimsby in the fourth, a single by Mason Melhoff in the sixth, and a single by Lane Darrow in the sixth.

Rapid City Post 320 Stars scored four runs in the fourth inning, but Sturgis Post 33 Titans still managed to earn the victory.

Sturgis Post 33 Titans got on the board in the first inning when Dustin Alan singled on a 1-0 count, scoring two runs.

Sturgis Post 33 Titans notched three runs in the second inning. The big inning was thanks to a single by Alan and an error on a ball put in play by Ridge Inhofer.

Kain Peters was the winning pitcher for Sturgis Post 33 Titans. The righthander allowed one hit and zero runs over three innings, striking out three. Gage Murphey threw four innings in relief out of the bullpen for the save.

James Rogers took the loss for Rapid City Post 320 Stars. The pitcher went two innings, allowing five runs on three hits and striking out four.

Sturgis Post 33 Titans racked up seven hits in the game. David Anderson and Alan all had multiple hits for Sturgis Post 33 Titans. Anderson went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Sturgis Post 33 Titans in hits.

Rapid City Post 320 Stars had seven hits in the game. Darrow and Dansby each managed multiple hits for Rapid City Post 320 Stars. Darrow led Rapid City Post 320 Stars with three hits in three at bats.

The Titans, 2-0 in the Veterans Classic tourney and now 3-2 overall, are in action again on Friday at 12:30 at Pete Lien field, as they take on Cheyenne.
