Titans Lose Two on Saturday at Conley Tourney

ALLIANCE, NE – Sturgis Post 33 had a rough day on Saturday at the annual Clair Conley baseball tournament, losing two games in pool play.

In game one, the Titans lost the lead late in a 12-4 defeat to the Westco Zephyr’s out of Scottsbluff, NE.  Westco trailed 4-3 in the bottom of the fifth inning when Andon Pittman doubled on a 2-1 count, scoring two runs.

Cameron Meyer was the winning pitcher for the Zephyr’s. Meyer went five and two-thirds innings, allowing four runs on six hits and striking out three. Micheal Fisher threw one-third of an inning in relief out of the bullpen.

Dawson Inhofer took the loss for Sturgis Post 33. The pitcher allowed seven hits and six runs over four innings, striking out four.

Owen Cass went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Post 33 in hits.

Westco tallied 12 hits in the game. Pittman, Adan Vargas, Fisher, and Hunter McCollum each racked up multiple hits for the Zephyr’s.

In game two, Sturgis got things started in the first inning against Oglalla Post 135. Owen Cass tripled on a 2-0 count, scoring one run.

In the top of the second inning, Ogallala tied things up at one when an error scored one run for Post 135. 

Post 135 pulled away for good with three runs in the third inning when Caden Holm doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs and Landon Holechek tripled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run. Oglalla went on to defeat Post 33 by a score of 6-3.

Caden Rezac was the winning pitcher for Ogallala Post 135. The ace surrendered two runs on three hits over five and a third innings, striking out seven. Kaden Vogl threw one and two-thirds innings in relief out of the bullpen. Vogl recorded the last five outs to earn the save.

Cass took the loss for Sturgis Post 33. The righthander lasted four innings, allowing four hits and five runs while striking out three.

David Anderson, Cass, Yaden Miller, Sam Kooima, Beau Peters, Dawson Inhofer, and RJ Andrzejewski each managed one hit for the Titans (8-15).
