HARRISBURG, S.D. – Sturgis Post 33 traveled east to take on Harrisburg Post 45 on Sunday and they fell behind early in game one, losing 10-0 to the Tigers.
The Titans struggled to contain the Tigers high-powered offense, led by Tyman Long, who homered in the bottom of the first, scoring two runs. Carter Barhenfuss added a two run dinger in the fourth inning en route to a 10-0 win for Harrisburg in five innings.
Brandon Simunek was the winning pitcher for Harrisburg. The pitcher went five innings, allowing no runs on three hits, striking out four and walking one.
Sam Kooima took the loss for Sturgis Post 33. The righty went three and a third innings, allowing ten runs on seven hits and striking out three.
David Anderson went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Sturgis Post 33 in game one.
The Titans rolled in game two as Owen Cass drove in four on two hits to lead Sturgis past Harrisburg 11-5. Sturgis plated five runs in the top of the first, five more in the second inning plus one in the third on a home run by Cass.
Harrisburg scored three runs in the bottom of the third inning to cut into the Titan lead on hits by Tyman Long and Jack Sutton, who each drove in runs.
Cass pitched Post 33 to victory. The pitcher surrendered five runs on six hits over seven innings, striking out ten and walking zero.
Jack Riley took the loss for Harrisburg, allowing four hits and five runs over one inning, striking out one.
Sturgis Post 33 tallied 14 hits in the game. Beau Peters went 4-for-4 at the plate to lead the Titans. Sturgis stole nine bases, led by Ridge Inhofer with three base thefts.
Post 33 (13-22) plays their last two regular season Legion games on Monday, taking on Sioux Falls West at noon and Sioux Falls East at 2:30.
