STURGIS, S.D. The Sturgis Titans and Spearfish Post 164 played a doubleheader at Strong Field Monday night.
In game one, the Titans won 4-2 as Owen Cass pitched a full game to get the win.
Cass had 101 pitches and struck out seven batters.
Cass also led offensively for Sturgis, including a double in the third inning that scored Hunter Janzen and Dawson Inhofer.
David Anderson hit a triple in the sixth inning that resulted in a run and had three hits total for the Titans.
Hogan Tystad takes the pitching loss for Spearfish as he finishes with four strikeouts.
In game 2, Post 164 rolled to a 10-1 victory, scoring 6 of their runs in a red hot third inning.
Ty Sieber brought home Jonathan Bloom and Noah Mollman scored on a wild pitch to get the scoring started.
A double by Hogan Tystad brought in another run and Sieber ended up scoring on a single by Brady Hartwig to make it 4-1. Tystad then scored on a past ball at home plate and Hartwig scored on a single by Alec Sundsted.
Spearfish would add two more runs in the sixth on a dropped ball and throwing error in the fourth.
Sturgis’ only score came in the first inning when Owen Cass brought home Ridge Inhofer.
Kaideon Feyereisen pitched a complete game for Spearfish and had 5 strikeouts.
Sturgis will travel to Pierre on Wednesday to play Post 8 in a doubleheader starting at 4 p.m. MT.
Meanwhile, Spearfish will battle Belle Fourche on Tuesday, July 12 at 7 p.m.
