STURGIS, S.D. – The Sturgis Titans and Casper Valor Vikings had to wait two and a half hours to play, but the wait was worth it for the home team.
The game had just started when a thunderstorm came through and soaked the field. It took crews over two hours to get it ready and when play resumed, the Titans rolled to a 15-2 victory.
Casper scored first as Hunter Rabourn stole home on a wild pitch. But it was all Sturgis after that as the Titans would score 4 in the second to take the lead for good.
Dustin Allen scored on a single by Hunter Janzen and Kain Peters stole home to make it 2-1. A triple by R.J. Andrzejewski scored Connor Cruickshank and Thor Sundstrom to make it 4-1.
Sturgis did most of their damage in the 4th, scoring 8 runs and holding out Casper in the top of the fifth to end the game early via the 10-run rule.
David Anderson had 3 hits and Andrzejewski added 3 R.B.I. to help lead the Titans.
Owen Cass got the pitching win, going 4 innings and striking out 8 batters.
With the win, Sturgis will play Miles City Sunday morning at 10:00 a.m.
